Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am – 5pm and bank holidays
Journey through an immersive exhibition delving into our historical and contemporary connection with the ocean.
The Planet Ocean showcase draws upon an array of resources spanning natural history, art, and social history collections housed at The Box. This show has been bolstered by collaborative efforts with esteemed partners such as the Marine Biological Association, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, University of Plymouth, and various ocean conservation organisations in the South West.
Situated amidst the renowned Plymouth Sound, recognised as the UK’s first National Marine Park, the exhibition delves into a variety of ways we can explore, utilise, and draw inspiration from these familiar waters to contribute to a worldwide initiative aimed at safeguarding our oceans.
Centred around the overarching themes of plankton, pollution, people and planet, the exhibition will serve as a platform to disseminate pertinent facts, significant discoveries, tangible artifacts, and compelling narratives. Through this immersive experience, visitors will be instilled with a sense of hope amidst the challenges posed by the climate crisis, and empowered to advocate for the preservation of our oceans.
