SOAK Lab | Day 3 – Drake’s Reservoir
June 22 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
The last day of three workshops in Plymouth exploring site-based performance practice in response to watery locations, bodies and ecologies.
First session 10am – 1pm
During this workshop we will relate to the theme of water, or bodies of water. The studio will be a few minutes’ walk from Drakes Reservoir, which brought Dartmoor water to the city between the mid 1800s – 1970s. We will transition between moving, writing, speaking, witnessing (or being in company with) as exchanges of information, maps and doors back into the practice that we are building for ourselves/together. We will explore how this might translate into something that we can share and repeat, becoming perhaps, a rehearsal, ritual or performance. There may be some work with touch as part of the exploration. This is optional and adaptable; as is all of the workshop material. Please email us if you have any access needs or questions on if the workshop is suitable for you.
Second session 2pm – 4pm
We will use our bodies, voices and the physical environment to think about reverberation,
movement and acoustics. A final piece will be recorded for radio.
Anyone is welcome to join for one or all three days. If you have any access requirements or questions, please get in touch via email: soakliveart@gmail.com
