With Plymouth Sound National Marine Park in the mix of this years Seafest, so are our partners who are spanning far and wide, meaning a tonne of bookable events across Plymouth! Some of our activities have been fully booked over this Seafest weekend! But don’t panic, we still have a tonne of fantastic activities to sign up to. Here’s some of our personal recommendations:
Coastal Clean With Us
For you early birds looking to celebrate Seafest early, sign up to a social Coastal Clean-up around the Hoe and Tinside with our Ranger team.
We are running a wave of free Coastal Clean-ups throughout the next few months and further into next year. For now, pop along on Friday 13th to have a fun time and to do your bit for the UK’s first National Marine Park.
Ocean Conversations: Power to People at National Marine Aquarium
Take part in hands-on workshops on 15th Sunday that showcase some incredible projects and initiatives that you can get involved with. Discover how you can take part in civil action, citizen science and science communication – as well as learning how the Ocean can look after you!
Drawing and Exploring at Royal William Yard
Join artist Jayne Ashenbury to sketch your way around the Royal William Yard observing the buildings and life that surround this beautiful peninsular. Using Pen and Ink on watercolour paper you will explore perspective to create some interesting sketches of these historic Grade 1 listed buildings – focusing on the architecture (or the views!)
All materials will be provided – just bring you! This is an outdoor arty experience but there will be an indoor venue available if it’s wet! Meeting at the archway into the Royal William Yard at 10am for 1.5hrs, everyone Welcome Ticket Prices £10 Adults, £5 Children.
FREE Paddleboarding Taster Sessions with the Mount Batten Centre
Try out Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) the world’s fastest growing watersport in Plymouth, as a part of Seafest 2024 weekend. Take to the waters of Cattewater Harbour with the Centre’s instructors within your FREE 1 hour and 15 minute slot.

The Whale’s Tale Puppetry Workshop at The Box
Calling all ocean explorers! Join our crew and embark on a voyage to save our oceans. Learn all about amazing whales through imaginative games, use puppetry to explore the seas they live in and work together to create a sea shanty to protect them all. All hands on deck!
These workshops are particularly suitable for children aged 5+, all of whom must be accompanied by an adult. Please make sure you book both child and adult tickets. Free activity but advanced booking is essential.
The afternoon sessions (1.30pm – 3:30pm) are fully booked on both Saturday and Sunday so The Box have created two more workshops for 10:30am – 12:30pm on both days!
Spoken Word Poetry Performances – Royal William Yard
Dive into the world of spoken-word at Seafest’s Poetry Stage. Whether you’re a poetry aficionado or a curious newcomer, enjoy evocative poetry readings with the gentle sea breeze as your soundtrack. Featuring up-and-coming spoken word artists, as well as established local poets, immerse yourself in creative writing while taking in stunning coastal views.
Performances include celebrated playwright and artistic director Jon Nash, award winning poet Samantha Carr, seasoned spoken word performer Laurie Page, Plymouth’s Laureate of Words Rosemarie Corlett and more.
This event is free and you can just show up!
Mount Edgcumbe House Tour
Become enchanted through a historical tour through Mount Edgcumbe House free of charge. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore this beautiful building that’s rich in heritage, full of local history and treasures collected over the centuries.
Bookings are almost full but the 3pm slot is still available on Sunday 15th.
The expansion of Seafest 2024 has been made possible thanks a once in a lifetime transformational opportunity, Plymouth has been awarded £11.6 million from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to develop the UK’s first National Marine Park.
