Coastal Connections BioBlitz – The Rock Pool Project

Welcome to the Coastal Connections BioBlitz, a celebration of Plymouth Sound’s National Marine Park!
Join us for a day of exploring and documenting the diverse wildlife that calls this coastal area home. This in-person event is a great opportunity to connect with nature, learn from experts, record our findings, and have fun outdoors. There will also be a range of activities within the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre to get involved in! Feel free to drop in at any time throughout the day – you’re welcome whenever it suits you!

Event timings
- 10am to 1pm – Workshops, crafting, engagement sessions, mobile rock pool, etc.
- 1.30pm to 3.30pm – Rock pooling BioBlitz, led by TRPP and terrestrial BioBlitz element
- 3.30pm to 4.30pm – Beach Clean led by NMP
- 4.30pm to 5pm – Final workshops, crafting, engagement sessions
What is a BioBlitz?
A BioBlitz is an intense period of biological surveying in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated area over a continuous time period. Become a citizen scientist for the day and help to find and identify as many different species as you can before the clock runs out. Everything you find will be documented and passed on to local and national databases that monitor wildlife. All you need is enthusiasm for nature and a camera and/or a smartphone with the iNaturalist application downloaded.
