Mount Batten Peninsula is set to benefit from over £4 million of investment, in a series of improvement works, that will ensure the Mount Batten Centre (MBC) and its surrounding area become an accessible gateway to Plymouth Sound National Marine Park.
As one of the key gateways to Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, Mount Batten Centre, will undergo a series of enhancements to improve inclusive access to the Park. Please see below an outline of key milestones and further information on what elements of the business will be open during 2025.
Whilst the main centre is closed for renovation, there will be no access to the centre’s existing café, accommodation and toilet facilities. There will be temporary facilities in place for booked activities and club/affiliate members of the centre.
More details of the new pontoon will follow later, once the site investigation, preliminary designs and the process of selecting a contractor has been completed.

Site set-up
The contractors are already preparing the site. During week commencing Monday 10 March, there will be no access to the Mount Batten Centre carpark to ensure the safe delivery and set up of the welfare facilities. From 17 March onwards, there will be two accessible spaces available with limited parking for members.

Mount Batten Centre is still open for activities
Although the centre may look closed, it’s still very much open for activities! Please visit their website for a list of bookable activities that are available throughout the 2025 season.
Clubs and affiliates will have access to the centre’s temporary facilities during the redevelopment works.
