A new 16-page waterproof Marine Life Guide booklet has been launched, featuring 125 species
found in UK waters — from familiar favourites to extraordinary ocean visitors.

The guide presents an artist’s view of the marine creatures of the British coast through the detailed
illustrations of Debby Mason. Each species is shown with a short description, the English and
scientific name, size, habitat, and conservation status, making it an essential companion for divers,
anglers, families, and coastal explorers.

Speaking about the project, Debby said:

“This guide is a lifelong obsession poured onto paper. It is part field study, part love letter, with every
illustration born from hours of close encounters… My deepest wish is that through these pages, you
will fall in love with the sea, feel a deeper connection to it, and share in the urgent need to protect this
precious world.”

Prof. Willie Wilson, Director of the Marine Biological Association, added:

“This guide helps coastal explorers, anglers, divers, and ocean enthusiasts identify the sea fish of our
waters. With clear visuals and concise descriptions, it offers a practical resource for anyone keen to
deepen their understanding of ocean life. I hope it inspires greater appreciation and care for the sea.”

Beautifully produced, waterproof, and designed for use both outdoors and at home, the Marine Life
Guide booklet offers an engaging way to explore the fish and marine creatures of the British coast.

The guide will be launched at Plymouth Seafest and later made available online and through
selected stores.
