Seaweed Search – Firestone Bay

December 5 @ 1:30 pm 3:30 pm

Help us monitor the effects of environmental change on Britain’s sealife by exploring the seashore and recording the living seaweeds you find there. Community Science! For this event, we will run a survey day where we will teach you the basics of the Big Seaweed Search. If you have done it before or know your basic Seaweed ID that’s perfect but you don’t have to have been to any community science events before to get involved, come, and learn! Here we will be teaching people about invasive species, sea temperature and ocean acidification all whilst collecting data for the Natural History Museum researchers.

Follow the link below to learn about why seaweed is so important and what this citizen science project is trying to achieve: https://youtu.be/SdHqF38dGtY

Refreshments will be provided.

You will need appropriate clothing and footwear (we recommend walking boots or wellies) for weather and a phone.

There are available public toilets close by (cash fee). Moderate accessibility will be required for this event as there are steps down to the beach.
