SOAK Lab | Day 1 – Devil’s Point
June 20 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
The first of three days of workshops in Plymouth exploring site-based performance practice in response to watery locations, bodies and ecologies.
Anne-Marie Culhane and Emma Welton bring their combined and separate practice developed through working in place, particularly with Sarah Owen on the river Exe estuary in Tidelines’ Alive, alive O! Calling the Blue Mussel and Overwintering. On the Plymouth shoreline at Devil’s Point we will consider how water and tides connect us with creatures, people and places. We’ll make space to nurture a relationship between human expression and the more-than-human. We will sound the shoreline using our bodies (sound walking, field sensing, deep listening, moving), and tools (hydrophones for underwater recording). We’ll invite you into the water or the water’s edge to take part in some activities, including water
drumming. Getting wet is optional!
Anyone is welcome to join for one or all three days. If you have any access requirements or questions, please get in touch via email: soakliveart@gmail.com
