Throughout this summer, we have expanded our team in many directions to better connect Plymouth with the UK’s first National Marine Park. We are excited for you to meet our new members of the team and how their work will bring waves of positive impacts for our Sound. So without further ado, meet Maisy Fuller!
Maisy graduated from the University of Southampton in 2016 with an MSci in Marine Biology, a pivotal step that launched her into a diverse and impactful career in marine research. Over the years, she has worked globally, gaining invaluable experience as a marine researcher, educator, and government advisor, where her contributions have influenced important policy decisions and conservation strategies. Recognising the importance of effective communication in her field, Maisy also pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. This endeavour has equipped her with the skills to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences, from students to policymakers, fostering a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems and the urgent need for their preservation.
Recently, Maisy embarked on an exciting new chapter in her academic journey by starting a PhD at the University of Plymouth. Her research focuses on the sustainable management of marine resources, with a specific emphasis on the establishment of National Marine Parks. She is particularly interested in Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, which serves as her case study, allowing her to examine the intricate balance between conservation efforts and community engagement.
A passionate conservationist and an experienced scuba diver, Maisy is thrilled to explore the rich biodiversity of Plymouth Sound, both on the water and beneath its surface. Her enthusiasm for marine environments drives her commitment to conservation, and she looks forward to contributing to the sustainable future of these vital ecosystems. With a blend of academic rigor and hands-on experience, Maisy is dedicated to making a lasting impact in the field of marine biology and conservation.
