Shark Month – The Shark Trust

Shark Week is a renowned cultural phenomenon – but Plymouth is going bigger and better this summer by welcoming Shark Month to Royal William Yard this July. The month-long celebration is a partnership with the Shark Trust, a leading international conservation charity, based in Britain’s Ocean City.

Visitors will be invited to celebrate and support the vital work of the Shark Trust while enjoying a month-long extravaganza of art, entertainment and advocacy. With a captivating art exhibition, Great White wine tasting, paddleboarding with shark experts, and a screening of the iconic film Jaws all taking place, Shark Month promises a plethora of events for everyone to enjoy.

1 – 31 July | Oceanic 31 Exhibition

Kicking off the celebration is the Oceanic 31 Exhibition at Ocean Studios. Dive into the mesmerising world of oceanic wonders showcased through an enthralling exhibit of art inspired by marine conservation.

6, 13, 20 and 27 July | Family Art Activity

Families are invited to unleash their creativity at Family Art Activity sessions each Saturday at Ocean Studios.

7 July | Shark Trust Activity Day

Joining forces with Royal William Yard Good Food & Craft Market, the Shark Trust Activity Day promises a day filled with educational fun and exciting activities.

11 July | The Great Whites Wine Tasting

At Le Vignoble offers the opportunity to support a good cause, while savouring wines produced in regions where Great White sharks are found.

13 July | Shark Quiz Night – Steel Co Brewery

Test your shark and general knowledge at the shark quiz night at Steel Co Brewery, where teams can compete in a battle of wits for a chance to win fish-tastic prizes.

18 July | Letterpress Poster Workshops

With Alan Qualtrough at Ocean Studios, using the recently restored 19th-century Albion press.

18 July | Shark and Art Talk

Renowned artist Marc Dando and Shark Trust CEO Paul Cox will hold a Sharks and Art Talk at Ocean Studios, exploring the intersection of marine life and artistic expression.

21 July | Screening of Jaws – Everyman

Film enthusiasts won’t want to miss the screening of Jaws – the most iconic shark film ever made – at Everyman Plymouth, offering a thrilling cinematic experience followed by Q&As with shark experts.

26 July | Shark Trust Paddle

Adventure seekers can embark on an exhilarating Shark Trust Paddle with South West SUP, taking to scenic waters while learning about shark conservation.
