Volunteer with us

Volunteers are at the heart of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. By giving their time, energy and ideas, they help more people enjoy the water, understand its wildlife and care for this remarkable stretch of sea. From lending a hand at events to getting involved in practical projects along the shore, our volunteers help keep the United Kingdoms first National Marine Park thriving for everyone. Here you can explore what our volunteers do and discover the ways you can join in.

Hear from our volunteers

“”You can volunteer what ever time you can give. We have lots of activities to volunteer for, by the sea and across the city as well.””
Jenny, Volunteer – Extra Salty
“”From the moment that I first heard about the National Marine Park I was excited to find out more about it, and to understand how I could get involved. I have always had a spiritual connection with the sea, acquired over more than ten years as a merchant navy officer roaming the oceans, and I felt a very strong need to be near the sea when I retired.””
Tim, Volunteer – Extra Salty
“I’ve met a wide range of different people and I get to do some really interesting stuff which is helping the wider Plymouth community. It’s also good fun, well run and flexible enough to never clash with my other commitments.”
Lloyd, Volunteer – Extra Salty
