About
Overview
Created by artists Agnieszka Blonska & Tori Cannell, co-created with mothers from Plymouth. Produced by Plymouth Culture
Through My Eyes is a contemplative immersive audio experience exploring the strong link between sea, migration and motherhood led by the stories and memories of 12 first-generation Polish migrant mothers.
Audiences are invited to gather in a designated viewing area at Devil’s Point and listen through wireless headphones to layered personal testimonies reflecting on belonging, language, motherhood, memory, loss and the idea of home in relationship with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park
Weaving personal testimony with poetry and the rhythms of the ocean, the piece asks what it means to put down roots when part of you is always pulled by the tide.
The artists work is rooted in a belief in the power of storytelling, creativity and building relationships to nurture and amplify voices. You can find out more about the artists here.

Seating
This is an outdoor experience, so we encourage you to bring a picnic blanket or cushion to sit back and enjoy the view. A small number of chairs will be available for those who need them.
How to Get Here
Car: Drive from the city centre to Stonehouse and follow signs for Devil’s Point; there is a free 3‑hour car park at Devil’s Point Park. There are 5 disabled parking bays. Parking in blue spaces is free for a maximum of 3 hours. Any driver using a disabled bay must display a valid Blue Badge.
Bus: Buses from the city centre stop along Durnford Street and Cremyll Street; from there it’s a short walk through the park to Devil’s Point and Firestone Bay.
Cycling: Cycle from Royal Parade through Millbay and Stonehouse or via the Hoe and Royal William Yard; the South West Coast Path link (“Stairway to Devon”) connects Royal William Yard and Devil’s Point.
Water taxi/ferry: You can link a boat trip to Royal William Yard or the Cremyll Ferry at nearby Admirals Hard with a short waterside walk round to Firestone Bay/Devil’s Point.
Accessibility
Location: The paths leading up to Devil’s Point have a good surface allowing pram and wheelchair users to access most areas, the exception to this is the set of steps at the western end of the park. If you need a flatter, more level surface, the concrete bunkers provide this, and chairs can be provided there for anyone who needs one.
Printed scripts: Large printed versions of the audio script will be available to use on arrival if required.
Please email Hope on hope@plymouthculture.co.uk if you want to discuss any access requirements before arriving for the event.
Weather
This event takes place outdoors and will go ahead in most weather conditions. We recommend dressing for the coast, which can be breezy even on warm days. If a sunny day, don’t forget sun cream, and consider bringing a small umbrella which can double as shade or shelter depending on the day. In the event of severe weather, we will contact ticket holders directly. Check our Sea for Yourself social channels for any last-minute updates.
For general event queries, please contact Hope on hope@plymouthculture.co.uk
Through My Eyes is commissioned and produced by Plymouth Culture for Sea for Yourself in partnership with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund (Horizons programme) and Arts Council England (Place Partnership).
