About

Join us for a repeat of our fully booked Torpoint River Front Walk, part of the Tales of the Tides: Voices of the Sea project. Led by Tom Hardy of the Torpoint Archive & Heritage Centre, this guided walk explores the rich maritime heritage of Torpoint’s waterfront and its long relationship with the Tamar and Plymouth Sound.

The route takes in key historic locations including the former tide mill, early boat‑building sites, medieval chapels, the St Germans Union Workhouse, the ropewalk, the 18th‑century Ballast Pond, and the evolving story of the Torpoint Ferry. Along the way, Tom will share photographs, stories, and insights that bring the riverfront’s past vividly to life.

This is an accessible, engaging walk suitable for anyone interested in local history, community heritage, or the changing landscape of the river. The walk concludes at Karkadia, where participants are welcome to stay for refreshments.
