Who is involved in Plymouth Sound
National Marine Park?
Across Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, our Anchor Points bring people and the sea together. Each one helps everyone connect with, enjoy and care for this remarkable place, showing what it means to be part of Britain’s Ocean City.
Ocean Conservation Trust
The Ocean Conservation Trust (OCT) is a charity centred around people and positive action for our Ocean. It brings together communities to drive positive behaviour change and practical habitat restoration to protect and celebrate our shared blue spaces. Their work in Plymouth Sound National Marine Park and further afield shows why this remarkable seascape deserves to be enjoyed and cared for by everyone.
Plymouth Culture
Plymouth Culture champions a vibrant cultural life across the city, supporting creativity, collaboration and connection. It brings together artists, organisations and communities to share ideas and celebrate what makes Plymouth unique. By strengthening links across the creative landscape, it opens up opportunities, grows local talent and makes culture more accessible. This joined up approach enriches everyday life, supports the economy and helps shape a confident, creative future for the city and its communities.
Mount Batten
Mount Batten is where Plymouth Sound opens up. At its heart, the Mount Batten Centre helps people of all ages get on the water, sailing, paddling or trying something new. With its historic Tower overlooking the harbour, it blends adventure with heritage. As an Anchor Point, it is a true launchpad into the National Marine Park, building confidence and connection with the sea.
Tinside Lido
Plymouth Active Leisure (PAL) is a community-focused organisation owned by Plymouth City Council. It runs many of the city’s much-loved swimming pools and fitness centres, encouraging people of all ages to stay active and well. From the Plymouth Life Centre and Plympton Pool and Gym to Tinside Lido and Mount Wise Pools, their spaces help build confidence in and around the water throughout the year.
Mount Edgcumbe
Across the water from Plymouth lies Mount Edgcumbe, a landscape of ancient barrows, wooded valleys, historic parkland and hidden coves. Its 865 acres of carefully managed woodland and open space shape a beautiful backdrop to the National Marine Park while helping to keep our waters clean and rich in marine life.
