About
Join the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park in celebrating National Marine Week and Big Seaweed Search Week!
We will be conducting a big seaweed search citizen science survey, crucial to monitoring long term change in coastal ecosystems. We will also be doing some rock pooling in case you fancy something more exploratory.
The seaweed search will get you familiar with the native and invasive species of algae that inhabit our coastline whilst the rock pooling will introduce you to the intertidal inhabitants of the rocky shore!
We welcome all people of all ages and backgrounds to join in, so whether your crazy about seaweed or a nudibranch fanatic- or know nothing of either- come to Firestone bay and join in on the fun!
We will meet at the top of Firestone Bay steps at 13:00
You will need appropriate clothing (sunhats/ sun cream or raincoats) and footwear (we recommend walking boots or wellies) for weather.
Location: Firestone bay
Please note: this event is subject to a 24 hour cancellation period in bad weather conditions.
To ensure the wellbeing of the whole group, the event leader may need to decline participation if someone’s behaviour or needs present a safety risk or prevent the leader from running the session effectively. This decision would only ever be made when absolutely necessary, and always with care, respect, and consideration for everyone involved. Rangers are not responsible for the behaviour or discipline of children present; that responsibility lies on the parent/guardian of the child.
