About
Join Plymouth Sound National Marine Park rangers and volunteers to undertake The Wildlife Trusts’ national citizen science survey of the intertidal shore; Shoresearch. We will be using the walkover methodology quarterly to help monitor the effects of pollution, climate change and invasive alien species in three key sites around Plymouth Sound.
This event is aimed at those with an interest and some experience in intertidal marine life identification and familiarity of quadrat surveying. These surveys will involve walking over slippery rocks, and in – out of rockpools and water so wellies/sturdy boots with solid grip are essential and please dress for the unpredictable weather. We will bring hot drinks and biscuits for all!
Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start time so we can sign in and brief everyone. The terrain is often tricky to navigate and very rocky, so suitable footwear must be worn.
Survey Dates and Locations:
- Summer (National Marine Week): 27th July 1000 – 1200 Mt. Batten beach, bottom of the steps W3W///wiped.cotton.panic
- Autumn: 11th October 1200-1400 Cremyll ferry Mt. Edgcumbe landing W3W///green.daily.formal
