About

Join us for the second and final workshop in the Fish, Tin & Copper shanty project, led by folk singer and choir leader Sian Jamison. Building on the first session, participants will rehearse and refine a collection of maritime songs that celebrate the industries, communities and seafaring traditions of the Tamar and South East Cornwall.

Drawing inspiration from the region’s historic connections to fishing, mining and maritime trade, the workshop explores the stories and heritage that have shaped life around Plymouth Sound and the Cornish coast. Through shared singing, participants will discover how song has helped preserve local history and community identity across generations.

Part of the Tales of the Tides: Voices of the Sea heritage project, this friendly and inclusive workshop is open to all. No formal singing experience is required, and newcomers are welcome. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in the public performance following the workshop.

Free entry. Donations to the church are welcome. Hosted by Saltash Old Cornwall Society in partnership with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park and Kernow Goth.
