About
Calling adults, kids, families, dogs and all, come and help NMP Rangers keep Ernesettle creek clean and tidy, safe and thriving for people and wildlife alike! We will walk from the Millpond to Ernesettle Lane along the headland path collecting litter as we go, going along the beach when the tide allows, (Approx. 2km). You are welcome to join for some or all of the event, to pick or just to chat – and we’ll have a celebratory cuppa at the end!
During our coastal clean we may be undertaking a simple beach litter survey (tide permitting); recording what we find and sending off the data to Marine Conservation Society’s Citizen Science project (BeachWatch). This litter data helps inform campaigns and lobby government, and has led to influential changes like the UK-wide carrier bag charge, microbead bans and changes to wet wipe packaging.
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or just dipping your toes into community action, there’s a spot for you. Come and help make the foreshore a healthy place to live for all creatures whether human or marine and learn about some of the biggest threats facing the marine environment from pollution and plastic. We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits after!
What to bring:
Waterproof Jacket,
Suitable foot wear (the path could be wet and muddy),
A drink or a snack
Distance: Approx. 3km (can be adjusted depending on the group).
Location: Ernesettle Creek Mill Pond (What3Words: ///notice.fast.news) google pin: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GAwrfCPJ6mqcLYxx9
