Apprentice, Level 5 Laboratory Technician – Plymouth Marine Laboratory

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is interested in starting a rewarding career in Science. This Foundation degree level apprenticeship will provide formal and on-the-job training in all aspects relating to the generation of Plymouth Marine Laboratory’s long-term phytoplankton time-series, which forms an important part of PML’s internationally-recognised plankton research.

This will include learning phytoplankton identification using both traditional microscopy techniques and new imaging technologies, following health and safety best practices, collecting samples onboard their research vessel, generating and analysing data, report writing and presenting scientific findings at internal and external meetings.
