What is Tinside Lido?
Tinside Lido is Plymouth’s iconic open air seawater pool, set on the edge of the Sound and steeped in history. It offers a unique place to swim, relax and enjoy the sea, right in the heart of the city.
It is run by Plymouth Active Leisure, a community focused organisation owned by Plymouth City Council. PAL looks after a range of the city’s swimming pools and fitness centres, including the Plymouth Life Centre, Plympton Pool and Gym, and Mount Wise Pools, helping people of all ages build confidence in and around the water, stay active and feel good year round.

As an Anchor Point, PAL turns everyday swims into meaningful connections with Plymouth Sound, working with partners such as Swim England and the RNLI to offer free Swim Safe sessions that give children vital water safety skills right beside the National Marine Park.

Recent improvements at Tinside Lido have created flexible year-round spaces for young people, community gatherings and marine-themed events, while supporting the site’s long-term sustainability.
